You see? Ahhhh yeah!

A video from the reunion show at Hampton Coliseum. This one is of First Tube in its entirety. What an amazing show. Unbelievable setlist from a well practiced band. For all of you who were not there, this is a taste of what went down inside the mothership on 03/06/09. More videos to follow.

RADIOHEAD | 12 CAMS, CREATE YOUR RAINBOW | WOWOW ONLINE

I’m not too sure what to expect from this post… but this a quick video mix I made of Radiohead’s “15 Step” off their amazing album, “In Rainbows.” They recorded a live version in Japan, then put all of the video streams online, in parallel, within a slick interface for mixing those streams.

First, definitely check it out yourself. Second, I am curious to see how this widget appears in the blog.

UPDATE: Er, can anyone use this widget? It doesn’t seem to accomplish much for me to click on it… Weak.

John Frusciante, Flea & Omar Rodriguez: October 16, 2004

2008/10/16/1408

RTFA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFDdIIITJ08&feature…

…and now, for something completely different, I present you with a totally rocking piece by John Frusciante, Flea and Omar Rodriguez.

The live performance pulls together parts of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Mars Volta in two really great, meandering meditations. This all-instrumental show blends improvised and rehearsed elements, strange time signatures, long patterns, and tons of different guitar tones.

The video seems to have been edited by a group called GT Graphics (noizEwater & noir dueil?), and it delivers. Although these three are guitar luminaries, the video, with its wide borders, creates the impression of small-format film, and establishes an underground indie feeling.

Definitely watch both parts: the second video contains the end of the first song, as well as a more experimental work – and they’re definitely working hard to keep up the pace!

Third Presidential Debate: more ways to stream it live (even with Linux)

2008/10/15/1601

My previous article is referenced by my post to Slashdot, and the comments thread has a bunch of good suggestions for watching online.

wwwrench points out a technique for watching the CNN stream of the debates if you have Linux:

You can get it to work [on Linux]: just use VLC media player
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
and open the video stream:
File->Open Network Stream
check HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/MSS and put in the url http://www.cnn.com/video/live/cnnlive_1.asx

Also, C-SPAN options should be “analyst-free”:
