Wow – this interview is supremely weird. Here’s a before-and-after of Joaquin on Letterman:
I suppose there’s nothing worse than speculating about “celebrity” behavior, but simply by virtue of the fact that lots of people have seen the same clip, here we go… speculating, speculating, speculating… I can’t do it! I can’t bring myself to speculate! Just watch the clip…
This is a very cool and compelling motion graphics piece by a team of students from the Vancouver Film School. The numbers are interesting, to say the least, and more than a little provocative. RTFA has posted about the Iranian blogging movement before, but I was shocked to learn how many young Iranians are in the country. In this context, blogging makes a lot more sense, and I am suddenly curious to know what they are saying. I am expecting the opinion of the youth to be an interesting contrast with the message that is broadcast in the United States, which itself is a second-hand interpretation of the “official” message from Iranian heads of state. Give this video a watch!
I’m learning Python and Django; cue the shocked exclamations regarding Perl, religion, blah blah blah. This is how it has to be, and I’ll explain why in a little bit.
For now, I just want to say two things: Django is pronounced like “jan-go” (i.e. the D is silent), and Django Reinhardt plays a mean guitar. This stuff is smooth!
One of the first prominent European jazz musicians, Reinhardt remains one of the most renowned jazz guitarists due to his innovative and distinctive playing. With violinist Stéphane Grappelli he cofounded the Quintette du Hot Club de France, described by critic Thom Jurek[3] as “one of the most original bands in the history of recorded jazz.” Reinhardt’s most popular compositions have become jazz standards, including “Minor Swing”, “Tears”, “Belleville”, “Djangology”, “Swing ‘42″ and “Nuages” (French for “Clouds”).
Since this has been bOINGed, I imagine this will be all over the Internets now… and what’s not to love? It’s a kid, completely out of his brain on doctor-administered drugs. Yes, he’s probably more wacked out than is strictly necessary, but if it weren’t that way, then it wouldn’t be on the Internets, now would it?
This is my 7 year old son who had an extra tooth removed last summer, 2008. I had the camera because he was so nervous before I wanted him to see before and after.
He was so out of it after, I had to carry him out of the office. The staff was laughing and I had tears it was so funny.
He is doing fine now and the teeth are great.
Best of all he is the best kid as his brother William. I couldnt have asked for two better sons!
Who among us has not once asked, “Is this real life? Why is this happening to me? Do you have four eyes? Is this going to be forever?” And more importantly — what kind of parent would film their child in this state, then share it with the world for LOLS? And what kind of sick blogger would post this exploitative material on Boing Boing?
Gotta love the exploitation. Wow, this kid is going to have fun at college. If I were the parents: 1) I’d research some Neuromancer-style metabolizing anti-amphetamine technology, 2) take out a life insurance policy, and 3) brace for the G’s of a severe rollercoaster ride through this kid’s semi-public, heavily peer-influenced life.
